A college basketball player was found dead in her dorm room Sunday night.
Shanice Clark, a 21-year-old senior from Ontario, Toronto at California University of Pennsylvania, was found unresponsive around 3 a.m.. The local police believe her death was an accident.
" University officials said they were “deeply saddened” by the death of the 6-foot senior forward, who was redshirting after playing two dozen games for the Vulcans last season.
Athletic director Karen Hjerpe called Clark “a bright student and talented player” and said “her smile and personality will be missed.”
California borough police said a preliminary report from medical personnel indicated that the death appeared to be accidental.
The coroner’s office said the cause of death was pending an autopsy and the manner of death remained under investigation."️Update: Reports circulating claim she possibly choked on gum in her sleep. Story developing.
